The Armada Story
Armada has been making skis since 2002 when it was conceived as the first rider owned and operated ski-company. Initially the company produced two models of skis; the AR5 and the ARV with its focus on developing a durable and fun ski. Through intensive testing over the last eight years by the most respected pro team, Armada have not only managed to continuously develop their skis and technology, they have expanded their range from two to the fifteen different models we see today.
In doing so Armada has not just pushed the envelope as far as ski technology is concerned, they have ripped the envelope apart and chucked it out the window. With flash-hot graphics developed by talented artists and skis that are rigorously tested by the best riders in the industry the Armada family of athletes, designers, artists and engineers, have flung their products in the upper echelon of freeskiing merchandise, and the rest of the ski industry is frantically trying to catch up.
Armada also has a special sort of relationship with New Zealand. Through the efforts of a few ingenious people the first production line of Armada skis was available in NZ promptly after its first North American season. As NZ winters coincide with the Northern Hemisphere summer we soon found the whole Armada team coming over to NZ on a yearly basis to use our incredible mountains as testing grounds for the newest Armada products and ideas.
Tanner Hall perfected his X-Games winning pipe run at SnowparkNZ and JP Auclair tested out the some of his ideas of using rocker (or early rise in the tip and tail of a ski) around TC and some of the outstanding Heli accessed terrain. For that past couple of year the whole Armada team has been in and around wonderful Aotearoa to shoot their catalogue, using our beautiful vistas as backgrounds. Needless to say, New Zealand is a special place for Armada and Armada has a special place in New Zealand.
Armada has a commitment to always push the sport into the right direction.
Armada: what skiing will become.
