Technical Details Explained
All Armada skis come with "Vibration Control", a thin layer of rubber in the tip and tail and above the steel edges and under the binding mat to control vibrations. This increases performance in hard pack and cruddy conditions.
Cores
Armada Skis have an all wood core, which make them more durable and lively. All the wood used is sustainable and is milled from renewable forests. The high density wood comes from ash trees and the low density wood comes from poplar trees.
Triple Zone: Three high density wood stringers sit along ultra light wood for a powerful, durable core with explosive energy return. Triple Zone cores resist compression without creating unnecessary weight.
Double Zone: Two high density wood stringers sit along ultralight wood creating a light core with pop and solid edge hold, while keeping swing and overall weight down.
Fleet Core: Similar to the Double Zone core, but with a slow taper to 45 degrees towards the tips and tails. This eases entry and exit into and out of turns for lighter riders.
Ultra Light Core: Using select 375/m3 wood stringers that have unusually high strength-to-weight rations, UltraLight cores allow our widest skis to maintain a light-yet-stable feel.
AR 50 Hybrid Core: These core inlays are configured in the same way as the Double Zone, Triple Zone and Ultra Light cores, but with pre-installed ABS layers laid alongside the core, directly under foot. Unique to our AR50 constructions, these cores concentrate the weight of the ski below the boot sole, increasing durability and lowering swing weight.

Construction
ABS Construction: This construction method creates the highest performance skis we offer. Two strips of ABS material lie directly alongside the core and over the ski's edges, providing unequaled edge hold, core protection, and added stability.
Cap Construction: This method wraps the wood core with composite fiberglass layers into a torsion box. The base assembly is inserted into the mold, then the fiberglass.
AR 50 Construction: ABS Sidewall meets Cap construction, the best of both worlds. This engineering method combines the lightweight cap construction in the tip and tail with ABS sidewall underfoot, resulting in remarkably enhanced edgeghold and significantly lowering swing and overall weight. The AR 50 construction method is used exclusively in all models that feature out patent-pending Elf Shoe Technology.
Bases
S7 Base: This base is designed to continue to be low maintenance, but still fast and slick even after a full season of hitting rails and rocks without waxing.
Comp Series Base: The World Cup-inspired competition base is made for speed. It is high maintenance and designed for controlled environmental conditions like its race bretheren.
50/50 Base: This die-cut blend of two base materials is the common ground. It is faster than S7, but doesn't require the maintenance of the comp series base.
Edges
1.7 Impact Edge: This edge exists in out line
for one reason: it's light. Deliberately smaller, this edge is on all
our more backcountry-oriented skis.
2.5 Impact Edge: This edge
exists for one reason as well: it's durable. This edge is designed to
resist breaking and tearing out from rocks, rails and many other abuse
it may meet along the way.
Elf Shoe Technology
Our patent-pending 5 Dimensional design
combines the progressive elements of tapered and rockered tips and
tails, which dramatically enhance a ski's floating abilities while
lowering its swing weight, with the proven qualities of cambered sidecut
underfoot.
By playing with the amount of tapered rocker that is
incorporated into each ski, we are able to adapt the concept of Elf Shoe
Tech to a variety of skis in our 2009/10 lineup. Therefore ES Tech gives us 3 different types of rocker, a powder rocker (ARG, not available in NZ), a freeride rocker (the JJ), and a park rocker (Alpha 1 & Halo).
The versatility of 'ES
Tech' gives our widest powder specific models the ability to break out of their defined niche and opens them up to the whole mountain. And the
performance advantages those same attributes give skis designed for the
park and pipe are truly game-changing.
With ES Tech, your powder skis
rip right down to the lift line, and your park skis bring you places
you've never seen before.
Below you are shown the four different profiles you will find on armada skis. All the rocker skis employ elf show technology.
